She Wears a Mask

You always thought you knew everything about your wife, but it turns out she has been keeping something from you. You just found out that she wears a mask at work, and it’s the mask of a hard-nosed, hard-ass dragon lady. For the record, you always knew she had it in her, but now that the real down and dirty comes out it turns out she is a serious bitch at the office. You have only one option here – leave it alone. Do not, under any circumstances, ask to see that side of her. You might as well invite the vampire in the house, once she brings that … [Read more...]

Wedding Bells

Well, Spring is here, and so with it begins wedding season. When I imagine wedding season, I often picture the TV show Bridezillas. To be honest, I don’t like the show, I’ve tried to watch it a couple of times but I rarely get more than five minutes in before I’m yelling at the groom to run away. I get that weddings are stressful and expensive and can bring out the worst in anyone but those monsters aren't just terrorizing a wedding party, they are attacking a whole damn town. Watch out Tokyo, you're next. Most women from an early age have an idea of … [Read more...]

Do you know what that means? Well, if Destiny’s Child have any say, it means she bought her own shoes, clothes, jewelry, house, car, and hell … the watch you’re wearing if she damn well pleases. It means that she is fully capable of taking care of herself. Some men shy away from the often feared independent woman because, what can become of the relationship if she doesn’t need him? The problem is, no woman is an island. Sure, we can bring home the low-fat, turkey bacon, and scramble it into an egg-white omelet. We can even clean our own house, raise … [Read more...]

Don’t be that guy.

I’ve dated that guy. We met, he was funny, edgy, played guitar. We started dating then he lost his job. We had only been in a relationship for a few months and I didn’t want to be that girl who bails on him when he hits a speed bump going too fast and skids off the road. So I tried to stick it out. At first we tried the couch date life, but that got old super fast, so I decided if I wanted to get out and do things, I would have to exercise my bank account. I put it to good use and we maintained a pretty good dating life, and I was only mildly resentful. … [Read more...]

Gift Giving: It Shouldn’t Break the Bank

What do you get the girl who already has everything? How do you make a big deal out of her birthday, or your anniversary (or Valentine’s Day if you two are waiting for this weekend to celebrate it) without blowing your budget to bits and pieces? Assuming your woman isn’t one of those rare specimens that says she doesn’t want a gift, and actually means it, then it is important to celebrate the occasion with a little showmanship and at least something she can open. It’s not about the money you spend on it … well … we all know the cliché. It seems … [Read more...]

Ready … Set … FIGHT!

You’ve been there, you’re having a minor disagreement with your spouse over who is right and who needs to shut up when an ill-timed eye roll causes the whole exchange to take a nasty turn and now the shit has hit the fan. You are screaming at each other and it’s taking everything you have not to chuck your coffee mug right at his stubborn, fat head. When avoiding conflict is no longer an option, you are left with finding a resolution that doesn’t include ripping your own arm off and beating your partner to death with it. How do you end the battle … [Read more...]

She works hard for the money …

So hard for it honey … and now it seems she doesn’t have that much time for you. How do you let your girlfriend know that you want her to make a little more space for you in her life without coming off as clingy and needy? First of all, let’s be clear. Asking for what you want isn’t clingy, it’s how people get their needs met. Clingy is blowing up her phone if she takes more than ten minutes to get back to you. Clingy is expecting your girlfriend to spend every waking moment talking to you or texting you or being with you or at least thinking about … [Read more...]
