It’s her birthday, she can pay if she wants to!

For all those men who date women who make more money, this one’s for you …

When you are dating a woman who makes more money, there may come a time in your relationship when you find Couple hugging, enjoying summer sunset.yourself on a vacation that she paid for. Perhaps for her birthday she wanted to move things to a more exotic location for a little sun, surf, and skinny dipping. She probably knew you couldn’t afford a trip to the Virgin Islands so she ran her credit card and handed you a plane ticket. If she’s all for it, I’m all for it, have fun and don’t forget the sunscreen.

Now, I know what some of you are thinking, she knows you aren’t too liquid right now, so you don’t need to worry about anything, just sit back and enjoy the festivities. Can you hear that? That’s the sound of the buzzer and a crowd of people booing you. No. Bad boyfriend. There’s a big difference between getting to share in her vacation because she wants you there and you turning into a gigolo. If you don’t know the difference, then you need a time out. Come back when you’ve learned something.

Listen, she gets living on a budget. She lives on one herself, hers just happens to have a larger column for vacations. That’s why she probably doesn’t mind footing a larger portion of the bill, but reaping the rewards of a vacation she is paying for without contributing anything is bad form, and will likely land you single before the return flight touches down.

First, you need to find some way to contribute monetarily wherever possible. Cover the food. Spring for a tour or attraction. Get both of you a couple’s massage. Basically, don’t just leave your wallet at home, even if she tells you that you can. Men take care of their women, don’t let her willingness to bring you along on an expensive vacation make you so comfortable you stop acting like the stand-up guy she fell in love with.

Couple At SpaEqually important, don’t forget the present. I’m not suggesting you put your rent money into the trip and the gift, but you should be putting at least a little money aside each week from the time she starts planning her big birthday trip to the moment you step into the terminal so you can chip in on the vacation and make sure she has a little something to open. Because the moment she feels you check out and take her for granted, that’s the moment it’s over. And you better hope she is nice enough to not leave you stranded on the island with nothing but your empty pockets and the memory of her in a bikini.
